Greenhouse Manager

Overview
To provide the general oversight and management of all horticulture, vegetable farming and sales of plants, and produce. This includes directing all aspects of crop/plant(s) planning and harvesting utilizing a variety of different ways of growing including organic and hydroponic.
Essential Duties:
Develop the entire business plan for agriculture division
Establishes and maintains high horticultural / crop standards and practices providing direction, training and support to all staff, volunteers and interns
Manages all aspects of crop production, including purchasing supplies, propagation, potting, fertilizing, watering, pest and disease management and maintaining environmental controls.
Manages a detailed well-planned crop schedule for year-round production of fresh produce
Directs employees in the timely completion of necessary tasks, including weeding irrigation, planting etc.
Coordinates heating and cooling of greenhouse, irrigation systems and maintenance of horticulture hydroponic systems
Manages and supports overall plant health and soil nutrition strategies for all gardens to include sustainable gardening practices and integrated pest management in the outdoor and indoor gardens.
Ensures that all equipment, supplies (seeds) are available, and in good repair
Manages field and soil fertility, including of soil samples and makes proper adjustments
Ensures that all produce meet the organic Certification requirements in South Carolina
Obtains and maintains certifications that are applicable to the industry including hydroponics.
Manages the operational budget and any horticultural capital project needs.
Assists in the marketing and sale of produce and plants to the general community, and other local vendors.
Works closely with WorkAbility, and Customized Career Network to identify train and hire individuals with disabilities to work in the gardening horticulture program
Supervises staff, volunteers and interns
All Other Duties as Required
Minimum Requirements Associate Degree in Horticulture, Botany. BA, BS Preferred
Minimum of four years (4) experience in all aspects of horticulture, agriculture and crop management.
Minimum of two (2) year of experience in managing a greenhouse/ agricultural farm etc.
