Associate Manager - Career Services

Since 2014, Niagara College KSA (NC KSA) has operated technical and vocational training colleges throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of the Vision 2030 initiative and in partnership with the Colleges of Excellence (CoE). Headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, NC KSA provides community and customized training based on Niagara College Canada’s expertise and international track records as one of Canada’s most innovative and enterprising applied learning post-secondary institutions. With a strong focus on developing ‘world-’ and ‘work-’ ready graduates, NC KSA specializes in delivering a number of quality programs designed to prepare young men and women for successful entry into the workforce in the areas of Business, Event Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Information Technology and Graphic Design. All NC KSA campuses also offer a foundation program for English language development.
Applicants are invited for the position of Associate Manager, Career Services, Niagara College KSA, Al Ahsa female campus and Taif male campus. Reporting to the Manager, Employer & Community Engagement, the Associate Manager, Career Services is responsible in conjunction with the Associate Principal, Academic and Manager, Employment and Community Engagement for the development of the career services department by coordinating the career development / placement program for students and graduates seeking employment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provides recruitment activities for business and industry
Maintains and updates career resource information establishing summer job possibilities
Serves as a liaison between business, college, departments and students for purposes of communicating career development, employment opportunities and trends
Maintains part-time and summer placement opportunities, refers student applicants to part time employment opportunities
Maintains an up-to-date job announcement directory
Maintains and provides statistical analysis regarding career development/placement activities
Provides career advising and counseling
Assists students and community members in writing resumes, completing applications and advises on interviewing techniques
Researches trends and orders resource materials and audio visual
Analyzes and implements methods for improvement of services
Plans, organizes and hosts career fairs, development workshops and seminars
Plans arrangements for speakers
Updates job boards at the college
Develops brochures and booklets advertising career and development opportunity services
Coordinates a series of career forum activities
Performs and interprets interest and vocational assessments
Develops and manages project activities
May prepare reports and evaluations of specific programs
Understand, maintain and record administrative on-the-job tracking system
Oversee the planning, follow-up and recording of community events
From time to time, the incumbent will be involved in short term projects
Interviewing people one-to-one or in small groups to discuss career options
Managing a caseload of learners
Identifying skills gaps and how to deal with them
Helping learners draw up action plans for employment, education and training and supporting them to achieve these goals
Researching careers, options and support organizations to meet learners needs
Advising learners on how to source relevant training courses or qualifications and what funding might be available
Running small group sessions or larger presentations on all aspects of careers work and topics related to personal development
Helping learners understand the current job market
Using computer-aided guidance packages, skills assessment tools, career planners, psychometric tests and personal inventories
Writing careers literature or sourcing information
Keeping up to date with labour market information, legislation, and professional and academic
Performs additional related duties as assigned
Required qualifications, at a minimum, include:
Bachelor Degree in a career-related field or relevant academic discipline i.e., HR, Counseling, Business, Education and Project Management
Three to five (3-5) years of experience in career development and/or employment counseling
Two to three (2- 3) years of supervisory experience
Organizational, operations, and project management experience
Experience working with diverse student/employee interests and populations
Strong written and verbal communication in Arabic and English
Experience in self-assessment career inventory interpretation, strategic planning, career planning and business development considered an asset
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques and principles of applied career development and planning
Ability to coordinate activities and accomplish program objectives
Ability to interpret statistical data and prepare presentations
Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing
