Responsibilities
Partner with the business and ensure safety is integrated at all levels.
Provide expertise, advice and guidance to the leadership team, Operations and line managers on occupational health and safety policies, practices and procedures ensuring that these are aligned to regulatory requirements and best practice.
Maintains a leading role in coaching leadership teams and others on loss prevention, risk and creating a safe working environment.
Develop a framework of annual HS objectives, KPIs and ensure its achievement. Monitor and report HS based metrics that drive functional and business performance improvements. Accountable for the provision of monthly HS reports to Americana leadership with mitigation plans and recommendations.
Conduct audits/surveys to measure performance on Safety and Occupational Health and take appropriate actions to mitigate against risk to enhance the safety culture. Direct and monitor awareness campaigns to heighten attention and focus on OHS performance to achieve excellence. Develop and implement emergency response capabilities, crisis management and business continuity plans to support unplanned or potential events that may negatively impact business operations or safety.
Ensure that all businesses have a health, safety training program as required by company policy and regulators and organize comprehensive evaluation program for measuring and establishing effective occupational health and safety requirements in the work environment. Manage Safety budgets. Ensure all necessary safety items are included in the scope of any operation changes and projects through involvement in capex process and auditing safety checks for new projects. Works with sites to improve their safety programs through assessment of existing programs, identifying areas of concern and providing solutions. Establish hazard identification, observation and mitigation programs that will allow the operations to implement and monitor a hazard register for all identified hazards and subsequent hazard control plans arising from injuries, accidents, near misses, audits, workplace inspections, safety observations and staff.
